The use of elastic plastic coatings for forming leakproof and frictionless joints between contacting ground-glass surfaces is new. Preferably the coating consists of a chemically resistant fluoro(chloro)carbon polymer, especially polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), or a silicone.
