PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of surely forming coating films having a double layered structure by one time of coating stage and more particularly a method for surely forming the double layered coating films on a plastic material. SOLUTION: The coating material compsn. of the method for forming the double layered coating films consisting of an upper layer formed of a first resin and a lower layer formed of a second resin by subjecting a material to be coated to one time of coating with the coating material compsn. contains the first resin and the second resin. These resins satisfy the conditions|FA- FS|>|FB-FS|when the surface tensions of the first resin and the second resin are respectively defined as FA, FB [dyn/cm] and the surface tension of the material to be coated is defined as FS [dyn/cm]. An orientation stage to hold the coating material compsn. at a prescribed temp. is executed in order to orient the first resin to the atm. side and the second resin to the side of the material to be coated after the application of the coating material compsn. on the material to be coated and before the execution of the curing stage of the coating material compsn.
