The invention relates to a method and to an arrangement for the manufacture of partly hardened products (D) made from profiled, thin metal sheet. The method is characterized by providing a number of hardened parts (H) along the length of an initially shaped profile (R) while advancing the profile continuously in a manufacturing line, and by then cutting or clipping the profile at the non-hardened parts thereof (O) located between the hardened parts (H), and further shaping the profile (R) so as to obtain end products (D) of desired shape and size. The inventive arrangement includes a heating unit (18) in the form of an electric coil/loop (19) which is adapted to the cross-sectional shape of the profile (R) and which can be controlled timewise so as to solely heat certain parts of the continuously advanced profile (R) along the length thereof, therewith to produce the hardened parts (H) along the length of the profile. According to the present invention, the profile (R), and thus the end products (D), may be provided with intermittent stiffenings in the form of grooves or flutes (G).
|
