PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming a hard thin film on the surface of a plastic molding and an article produced thereby. SOLUTION: Ions of any of nitrogen, hydrogen, chlorine or fluorine are implanted into a molding made of any of a polycarbonate, a polyethylene, an amorphous polyolefin, a polypropylene or a methacrylic resin at a voltage 0.5 keV-6 MeV at a density 1×10<13> to 1×10<18> ions/cm<2> to form a hard thin surface on the surface of the molding.
