PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject agent having excellent acyl-CoA: cholesterol acyl transferase(ACAT) inhibiting action and useful for the treatment and prevention of arteriosclerosis by including an amide and a urea derivative as active components. SOLUTION: This ACAT inhibiting agent contains a compound of formula I [R<1> is a 1-12C alkyl; R<2a> to R<2d> are each H, a 1-12C alkyl, a (C=O)-B<1> group (B<1> is H, an alkyl, etc.), etc.; R<3> is a 1-6C alkyl; R<4> is a group of formula II (A<1> is single bond, an alkylene, etc.; R<5a> to R<5b> are each H, an alkyl, etc.), etc.; (n) is 0 or 1] or its salt as an active component. The compound of formula I is a new material exemplified by N-[2-t-butyl-5-(N'-methylcarbamoylmethyl) phenyl]-3-(2,3-methylenedioxyphenyl)octanamide. The ACAT inhibitor has high peroral absorbability and is useful also as an intermediate for the production of an active component of an agent for the prevention and treatment of arteriosclerosis. |
