BEAM INHIBITING MATERIAL FOR BEAM-DRILLING AND INSPECTING COOLING HOLE, AND METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a precise, speedy and inexpensive method for forming and inspecting a cooling hole to be machined with laser in a gas turbine engine moving or stator blade. SOLUTION: A hole 12 to be beam-drilled is formed in a wall 15 of an article 11 having a hollow inside 16, and it is inspected. The method comprises the steps of: (a) filling the hollow inside 16 with a beam inhibiting material 24 having a fluorescent material; (b) beam-drilling the hole 12 reaching the hollow inside 16 through the wall 15; and (c) inspecting the hole 12 in black light. The beam inhibiting material 24 contains wax, and the step (a) includes the step of filling the hollow inside 16 with fused mixture of wax and a fluorescent material.
