PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the eutrophication phenomenon without generating environmental damages by using pumice stones for fresh water or salt water in the eutrophic state. SOLUTION: Pumices are introduced in fresh water or salt water in the eutrophic state. The pumices are used suitably for a site where water in which fish is propagated is collected. The pumices are introduced into a pool at the ratio of approximately 1/2 kg to 1 kg per water of 1 m<3> . Also it is suitable to introduce the pumices in the form of rough grains of diameter in the range of approximately 1 cm to several tensμm. The amount of the pumices and its grain size can be varied in the above range as the functions of the type of water, the degree of pollution and the like of water to be treated. Ciliates and flagellates can be reduced and also diatoms can be grown by introducing the pumices.
