PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide strength, antibreak properties and wearability and realize light weight beyond an existing level by using a ceramic composite material of a specific density comprising a specific ratio of alumina. SOLUTION: A lithographic printing member is of an alloy comprising zirconium oxide, a second oxide or dopant and has a printing face composed of a composite material comprising alumina or a composite material. A zirconia alloy is composed of 50-99.9 wt.% of the composite material and the content of the alumna is 0.1-50 wt.%. A printing cylinder or sleeve is made up of a zirconia-alumina composite material ceramic or has a ceramic as a mere outer layer of the base. Whenever required, a hollow or a solid metal core is used as the base. The zirconia-alumina composite material ceramic has a low porosity of not more than 0.1% and a density of 5.0-6.05 g/cm<3> , and further, a grain diameter of 0.2-1 μm. |
