PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rubber composition useful for an electroconductive tire and belt by making rubber contain a silicic filler having an electroconductive layer on the surface. SOLUTION: This rubber composition has excellent strength, a friction resistance, an antistatic property and a low rolling resistance and is obtained by making natural and/or synthetic rubber contain silica fillers (water-containing silicic acid, silicic acid anhydride, etc., preferably having 0.01-100μm average particle diameter) having an electroconductive layer comprising carbon (or electroconductive tin oxide) formable a silicic filler by introducing a reducing gas and heating in a non-oxidizing atmosphere in the co-presence of a hydrocarbon component preferably in an amount of 0.1-50 pts.wt. to 100 pts.wt. of the silica filler on the respective surface, in an amount of 5-80 wt.%, preferably 20-70 wt.% based on the rubber.
