PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect ink-out even when components of an ink-out detection sensor have performances having great variations. SOLUTION: Ink-out is detected such that detected value of a density of a detection mark 19 formed by ejecting ink drops on a recording paper 6 is compared with a threshold value. This device comprises an ink-out detection sensor 18 and a detection output section 51 which detect the density of the detection mark 19 and output a detection output signal corresponding to an input current as the density detected value, a current changing section 52 that changes the input current and a control section 40 that allows the ink-out detection sensor 18 to detect a density of a reference paper which is set as a reference for the reference density at an input current setting mode and allows the current changing section 52 to change the input current such that the detected output obtained by the ink-out detection sensor 18 via the detection output section 51 is made to be in proximity to a target value predetermined beforehand. |
