PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a skin-whitening composition capable of increasing skin whitening effect of a whitening agent and having melanogenesis-suppressing activity by combining a specific chery-like berry fermentate with the whitening agent. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by mixing a whitening agent with an acerola cherry fermentate, more particularly an acerola cherry fermentate substantially containing no ascorbic acid and containing, at the best, slight organic acid, especially carboxylic aid. A tyrosinase-suppressing agent, a free radical scavenger, especially an extract of bearberry leaf, arbutin, lemon extract, cucumber extract, etc., is preferably used as the skin whitening agent. The acerola cherry fermentate is used in an amount of about 0.01 to about 50%, especially about 0.1 to about 1% and the ratio of the acerola cherry fermentate to the whitening agent is about 1:100 to about 100:1, especially about 1:10 to about 10:1. |
