<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide controllability for air bag inflation even without installing a strap on the inner surface of the air bag or without controlling the gas flow. SOLUTION: An air bag assembly is equipped with an air bag 12 in the folded-up condition, an inflator 32 connected with the air bag 12 with possibility of gas flowing in, and a bag holder to hold the air bag 12 and inflator in a single piece. The air bag 12 is protected by a provisionally fastening band 128 of flexible material in such a way that the folded-up form is retained. The band 128 has a ruptural part 130 which is intended to make linear rupture when the air bag is inflated in the direction perpendicularly intersecting the peripheral surface of the band 128. The ruptural part 130 has different ruptural strength between the specific zone and the other areas.</p> |
