PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction casing of a centrifugal compressor, which can uniform the circumferential speed distribution of air streams flowing into an impeller of the horizontal suction type compressor so as to prevent the performance of the compressor from lowering, and which can be efficiently operated. SOLUTION: A suction casing guide 10c for dividing an air stream sucked through a suction port 10a is provided in a flow passage in a casing 10, and a flow passage area rate S of the center partαof the passage of the suction casing which is divided by the suction casing guide 10c with respect to a suction port 10a is set to be larger than the passage area rate K of the inlet of the suction casing guide 10c by 10 to 30% at the outlet of the suction casing guide 10.
