PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve system for an internal combustion engine, which preferably suppresses surface damage on the sliding surfaces of its gear and camshaft rotating relative to each other resulting from periodic vibrations of the camshaft. SOLUTION: A driven gear 17 is fitted around a diameter-expanded part 21 on an intake side camshaft 6; the camshaft 6 and the gear 17 are adapted to rotate relative to each other by means of a VVT mechanism 15. The camshaft 6 is formed along the periphery of the diameter-expanded part 21 with an oil channel 31 and internally with three cushion oil passages 32 extending radially outward so as to lead to the oil channel 31. Those oil passages 32 lead into the oil channel 31 at positions corresponding to the angles of points (a), (b) and (c) where the valves once pressed down by cams 8a, 8b and 8c just close again.
|
