<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve steering feeling by generating assist torque according to the turning and returning operation of a steering wheel. SOLUTION: In the case of turning a steering wheel to the right, a turn-return discriminating circuit 21 judges the turning operation from the generation of steering torque to the right and the turning of an electric motor 6 to the right, and changes over a switch 14 to input an assist command value from a turning assist command value decision circuit 13 to a motor current control circuit 11. In the case of setting the turning force of the steering wheel to zero to return the wheel to the neutral position, the inertia works on the rotation in the returning direction of the steering wheel by self-aligning torque, so that the steering torque is generated in the reverse direction to the returning direction. Then the turn-return discriminating circuit 21 judges the returning operation and changes over the switch 14 to input an assist command value from a returning assist command value decision circuit 17 to the motor current control circuit 11.</p> |
