PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit pre-load to a steering rack by storing a rack guide between a lid cap and a rack and further installing a spring in a space up to the lid cap in compressed state in a housing in a rack-pinion type steering device. SOLUTION: A rack guide 30 is stored between a lid cap 34 and a rack 14 provided in a cylindrical section 32 of a housing 12. Further, a spring 36 is installed in the compressed state between the rack guide 30 and the lid cap 34. Accordingly, the spring 36 applies pre-load in the axial direction to press the rack guide 30 to the rack 14 in the direction from left to right. Thus, the rack guide 30 applies pre-load to the rack 14, whereby rack teeth 18 are kept in the state of firmly meshing with the gear teeth 20 of a pinion 16. |
