The invention refers to a procedure for barking logs by means of a jet of fluid for all species of wood logs, a procedure by which the log undergoes spiral stripping as deep as 2/3 of the bark thickness, followed by an intermittent blow in the cambium area, after which the bark is detached by a jet of water under pressure ranging between 50-300 degrees K, and a flow of 75-200 l/min. The unit consists of all necessary means for this procedure.
