The invention refers to a testing system for the operation of local short-circuit indicators (9) in medium voltage networks with aerial lines, equipped with a fault circuit (CAD), an indicating element (ES) and a return circuit (CR); the testing system including a receiving unit (8), which receives infrared spectrum radiations emitted by a ground level transmitter (3); at the moment of ground emission of a command signal receiving unit (8) powers an electromagnet (7) placed in the case of the local short-circuit indicator (9), which controls the switch of the indicating element (ES) to a short-circuit indicating position (B) visible from ground level; the testing of the indicating element (ES) is performed implicitly by the fact that the line remains under voltage during the whole duration of the testing process.
