摘要 |
A process for the preparation of a polymer from (1) a polycarboxylic acid comprising at least 75% dimerized fat acid, (2) urea or thiourea, and (3) an organic diamine containing from 4 to about 36 carbon atoms, the mole ratios of (1) and (2) being in the range of about 9:1 to 2.5:7.5 and the mole ratio of (1) plus (2) to (3) being about 1:1 comprises heating the reactants at a temperature of at least 120 DEG C. The term "fat acid" is defined as being a natural or synthetic, saturated, ethylenically unsaturated or acetylenically unsaturated monobasic aliphatic acid having a hydrocarbon chain of 8 to 24 carbon atoms, many such acids being specified. Exemplified diamines are 1:2- and 1:3-diaminobutane, bis-aminoalkyl ethers and tetramethylene, pentamethylene, hexamethylene, nonamethylene, decamethylene, cyclohexene, m-xylylene, p-xylylene and phenylene diamine. Dicarboxylic acids which may be present in the reaction mixtures are adipic, azeleic, sebacic, terephthalic and isophthalic acids.
