A nuclear reactor burst fuel-can detector system employs boron-trifluoride detectors, each of which is mounted at the centre of a group of sampling tubes. The tubes may be switched in sequence so as to isolate a defective channel through a continuously operating further monitor, when the radio-activity of the group is above normal. In addition a signal is developed to represent the power-variation of a group of channels. This signal incorporates parameters corresponding to the total reactivity in all the channels at the time of measurement and at a reference instant. The power variation signal controls an alarm system. |
