The invention refers to an installation that prepares lignite for combustion, designed to prepare lignite dust in order to be burnt in the furnaces of steam boilers or in thermoelectric plants. According to the invention, the installation for preparing lignite dust for combustion ensures the preparation of the coal dust by routing the coal particles depending on their granularity and a concentration that is suitable for stable combustion. The installation is made up of a dust separator/concentrator (B), which has a concentration chamber (24) that is connected to it and is provided, in its turn, with adjustable throttles (28 and 29) which control the dust and partition it in two fluxes. The fan-type hammer mill (A) inside the installation has a sectorial retention step (30) located on the circumference of the intermediary casing (3), on a circular arc of α=90...180 degrees, that is made up of front plates (34) welded to stiffening plates (36). The height of the front plates (34) is h=0.04...0.1xD, where D is the interior diameter of the intermediary casing (3).
