A spreader having a conveying element (11) for dispensing spreading material (12) in a manner distributed along a line (5), having a passage (13) along the conveying element (11) for passing presented spreading material (12), and having a dosing element (15) extending under the passage (13). Located under the dosing element (15) is a receiving shield (16) having a free lateral edge (17) projecting in transverse direction beyond the passage (13). From the passage (13), passageways (19) along the dosing element (15) and the lateral edge (17) are open. Spreading material (12) falling through the passage (13) accumulates on the receiving shield (16) under the passage (13), until accumulated spreading material (20) prevents spreading material (12) from falling through. By the dosing element (15), spreading material (21) is forced over the free edge (17) of the receiving shield (16) and, accordingly, spread. Simultaneously, the accumulation (20) of spreading material, controlling the feed of spreading material (12), is removed. |
