According to prior test procedures, the elastic characteristics of materials can only be determined in samples and not in real components. The invention enables the elasticity of a component to be determined directly on said component without causing any destruction. In order to determine the elasticity of a component (1) without causing any destruction (cf. Figure 6), a penetrating stamp (2) made from transparent material is pressed into the component (1) using a stressing device (7). Said stamp has known main curvature radiuses on both main curvature planes. A contact surface (3) is formed between the component (1) and the penetrating stamp (2) as a result of elastic deformation. The contact surface is illuminated with an optical system (4) and (6) through the transparent penetrating stamp. The dimensions of the contact surface are determined during stress by a longitudinal measuring system (5) and the normal force is determined using a force sensor (8). An elasticity value is determined from the normal force, the contact surface dimensions and the main curvature radiuses according to Hertz' equations. The invention is particularly suited for non-destructive determination of the elasticity of materials, specially real components in research and quality control. |
