The package comprises a main section (1) of a thermo-shrink material to fit tightly round the food product to be processed, and one or more pouches (2) to receive exudates produced during cooking. The pouches are linked to the main section through channels (5) which can be sealed thermally once cooking is complete, allowing the pouches to be detached while keeping the main section sealed. The main section of the package and the pouches are made from cavities in the thermo-shrink material, sealed by a flat surface layer, and joined together by their edges containing the channels, and are removed by cutting lengthwise along the edges. The package is made with the aid of a container or mould to receive the packaging material, and a thermal welding machine to close the exudate channels after cooking to allow the pouches to be detached.
