An image generating device provided with a movable image pickup means which picks up the image of a player with a predetermined background to obtain 1st image data, a camera parameter calculating means by which the viewpoint of the image pickup means is determined, a 1st image data generating means which generates 2nd image data corresponding to the projected image of a predetermined object to which perspective transformation made when viewed from the viewpoint determined is applied, a data delaying means which delays the 1st image data in accordance with the processing time taken for data processing by the camera parameter calculating means and the 1st image data generating means to generate 3rd image data, a 1st image data synthesizing means which combines the 3rd image data with the 2nd image data to generate 1st synthesized image data, a 2nd image data synthesizing means which combines the 1st image data with the 2nd image data to generate 2nd synthesized image data, and an image display means which displays an image for the assistance of the action of the player. With the device, the delay of the image for the assistance of the action of the player is almost eliminated, so that the player can act easily.
