A display plate for timepieces having an excellent appearance and a high commercial value. The display plate enables a design equivalent to that of ordinary metallic display plates while preventing a solar cell positioned under the plate from being seen through the plate, so that the variation of design including the pattern and color tone (delicate hue) imparting a feeling of high grade is greatly extended. A display plate (B) for timepieces provided on the front side of a solar cell (11) built in a timepiece is characterized in that the display plate comprises an optically transparent resin base (12) and a metal thin film layer (13) formed on at least one side of the resin base by dry-plating, that the solar cell cannot be seen through the display plate from the outside, and that the display plate has a light transmittance such that at least the solar cell generates electric power.
