The invention relates to a method for transferring data between computers. According to the invention, data in a first computer are read out in a first data format, then converted into a second data format and read into a second computer. The invention also relates to a device for transferring data between a first and a second computer, said computers being connected to each other for data purposes at least indirectly. The aim of the invention is to provide a means of transferring data between computers in such a way that data in a first data format can be converted into a second format without using complex programs or interfering with the data or program structure of the software used.
