The invention relates to a method for producing vinyl acetate, using a novel shaped body for noble metal supported catalyst systems for gas phase oxidation of ethylene and acetic acid. The novel shaped bodies consist of porous HiFlow3 rings consisting of known ceramic supporting materials such as SiO2, Al2O3, TiO2, ZrO2 or their mixtures, covered with a layer of known active constituents such as Pd/Au/K, Pd/Cd/K or Pd/Ba/K. The HiFlow3 supports are preferably macroporous.
