The device has a measuring scale (104) with a measurement point on the scale. The measurement scale can be moved along a measurement wheel carrier (101), which has measurement wheels that are functionally connected to a digital display. The measurement scale is preferably mounted transversely with respect to the measurement wheel carrier. One measurement wheel (102) may be larger than the other (103) by a factor of 10:1. The larger wheel has scale divisions from 1 to 10 and the smaller wheel has scale divisions from 1 to 9.
