Plastics granulator with planetary extruder

Plastics, esp. thermoplastic and thermosetting plastics,are granulated by cutting thin strands which are produced by a planetary extruder. Planetary spindles (4) are driven by a central spindle (5) and run inside an internally toothed housing (10). The planetary spindles (4) force melt through radial holes in the housing (10). An air supply (45) cools the melt and it is cut by a knife (35) which is driven by gearing (31) to revolve round the housing (10). The housing is temperature controlled (40) and is closed at the end by a disc (20) of hard metal or high speed steel. The assembly can be removed down to the planetary spindles (4) and can be fitted to the end of a planetary extruder.
