The panel or plate-shaped covering component has two narrow sides running parallel to each other in a longitudinal direction, which in cross-section are so profiled, that the one narrow side can be brought together with the other narrow side of an adjacent covering component, particularly with a heat insulating core, especially foam, behind the metal plate front side. On the two narrow sides (3,4) a profile plastics strip (10,11) runs in a longitudinal direction, which divides the metal plate body (6) from the wall-side rear side (9) of the covering component (1). The plastics profile strips (10,11) in the longitudinal direction of the narrow sides (3,4) are continuously formed.
