RING AIRFOIL LAUNCHER

A toy for launching ring airfoils comprises a member (58), a ring airfoil support (60) mounted on the member, and a propelling element (62) for moving the support along the member from a first to a second position. The ring airfoil moves with the ring airfoil support as the ring airfoil support moves; as the support decelerates at the second position, the ring airfoil is launched forward. The member may include a helical channel (68) which receives a pin (78) attached to the support to impart spin to the support and ring airfoil. The toy may include a protective housing (32), a return element (34) to move the support to a launch-ready position, and a trigger (106) to release the support for forward movement. Components of the toy are designed so that the characteristics of the ring airfoil are within certain safety limitations.
