The gear-changing lever and display is used in a road vehicle. It has an automatic transmission (30) with a selecting lever (12) which can be moved between a first gear-changing position (14) and a second gear-changing position (16). A sensor is provided. The sensor is used to detect the gear-changing positions and each selecting site (18-24) of these gear-changing positions.
