PHOSPHORESCENT PIGMENT AND PROCESS FOR PREPARING THE SAME

A phosphorescent pigment comprising mother crystals doped with a rare earth element and produced by firing a gel powder prepared by the sol-gel process from any desired combination of an alkoxide derivative, an organic acid salt, an inorganic acid salt, an oxide and a chloride of metallic elements constituting the pigment. It can be prepared by a simplified process, has a high crystal purity and is free from inclusion of impurities, and the pigment particle diameter can be easily controlled as desired.
