<p>A mobile telephone unit has a standby mode in which power to the master clock 112, which provides a high-speed timing reference used by a controller 110 to communicate programming data to a device 111 over a high capacity bus 116, is placed in a powered-off state along with other circuits to reduce power consumption. To permit continued programming communication during a standby period, a second, lower capacity standby line 117 is provided to carry programming data when the high capacity bus is disabled at the start of the period.</p> |
