In an optical pickup PC, a beam splitter 13 is arranged on an optical path between a hologram 7 and a grating 6. Beam splitter 13 includes a first reflecting surface 8 reflecting part of a beam reflected from a disk, and a second reflecting surface 9 arranged parallel to the first reflecting surface 8. Part of the beam which is reflected from the disk and passed through hologram 7 is reflected at the first reflecting surface 8 and thereafter reflected by the second reflecting surface 9 of beam splitter 13, and thereafter directed to optical waveguide device 11, whereby a signal recorded on the disk is detected (reproduced). The beam which has transmitted through hologram 7 and the first reflecting surface 8 is directed to photodiode 10 and detected as a servo error signal.
