The image processing method includes the acquisition of an image of intensity (J) formed from a matrix of points (A) given non binary intensity values. The points represent filiform objects. The method also includes detection stages for these filiform objects ie automatic determination of a vector field of intensity (V) forming an image if STATES comprising characteristics of magnitudes and angles for intensity vectors at different points (A) of the intensity image.
