INTRAEVASCULAR STENT AND METHOD FOR SUPPLYING HEPARIN

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To safely, effectively and cost effectively supply heparin to a transplantation position by forming the coating adhered to the surface of a stent of a material which forms an ion bond with the surface of the stent by sucking the haparin. SOLUTION: The coating is formed by first subjecting the metallic stent to a plasma vapor deposition treatment with gaseous methane such that the film is formed on the surface 16 exposed to the blood passing the stent 12. The carbon atoms of the methane molecules in the film are oriented with respect to the stent and the hydrogen atoms are exposed. A top layer contg. desired functional groups is then deposited by evaporation on a base layer. The formation of these two-layers by the plasma vapor deposition of gaseous ammonia so as to allow the primary amine functional groups extending from the surface of the stent to remain is equally good. The thickenss of the coating is required to be <=0.0254 mm and is preferably <1 micron. The stent subjected to the coating is packaged after washing and disinfecting.
