Date Dec. 28, 1995A method for stepwise voltage control using thyristors for supplying an induction motor at a fixed frequency and a variable voltage. A time sequence of electromotive force amplitudes corresponding to a predetermined law for torque variation during transient operating conditions is stored. Voltages applied to the motor and the current flow are determined to approximate the electromotive force generated by the motor. Static switch conduction intervals are used to adapt the electromotive force to the stored amplitude during the transient operating conditions.
