PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the expanding and unfolding speed of a main bag in a specified direction, especially in the rearward direction to enable an occupant to be brought into a soft contact with the main bag while the expanding- unfolding speed of the main bag is maintained as a whole without providing any complicated means. SOLUTION: Gas blown off from an inner bag 22 is blown into the first part 21a of a main bag 21 folded on the side near an expanding-unfolding opening in a case 4, and thus the first part 21a projects from the case 4 in a space ahead of a front passenger's seat. After that, the gas in the first part 21a of the expanded-unfolded main bag 21 flows into the second part 21b of the main bag 21 to expand and unfold the second part 21b. At this time, the direction of the gas flow flowing from the first part 21a into the second part 21b becomes a direction (in general, the direction starting from a specified position of the first part 21a and moving away from the position) which is different from the direction, in which the first part 21a expands and unfolds (the direction starting from the case and moving away from it) at least by a specified angle, and as a result, the expanding-unfolding rearward speed of the main bag 21 is suppressed. |
