PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller for preventing an abrupt change in braking force in an eddy current brake. SOLUTION: In a controller, vehicle speed is detected by a vehicle speed sensor 11 so as to detect revolutions of a rotating drum 47. When the detected vehicle speed is down below a given speed, the quantity in continuity to eddy current generating coils 51a to 58a is reduced according to the detected vehicle speed by a controller 13. Then, the braking force of an eddy current retarder 40 is continuously reduced according to the detected vehicle speed, thereby preventing an abrupt release state of brake of the eddy current retarder 40. |
