<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the device and method by which powdered activated carbon is effectively utilized, and the towers and tanks are simplified. SOLUTION: A biological contact filtration tank 11 contg. a biological filter bed 16, an air blowing pipe 18 for aerating the bed 16 and a treated water storage tank 12 following the filtration tank 11 are provided. A powdered activated carbon injection pipe 15 for mixing the activated carbon with raw water and injecting the mixture into the filtration tank 11 is furnished at an optional position of a pipe 14 for supplying the raw water to the filtration bed 16. The activated carbon is mixed in the raw water and supplied to the filtration tank 11 to biologically decompose the soluble material such as org. matter in the raw water by aerobes, and the contaminant is adsorbed on the activated carbon and removed to purify the raw water. Since the activated carbon is injected into the raw water supply pipe 14, the mixing with the raw water is facilitated, and the contaminant is biologically decomposed and adsorbed.</p> |
