PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure the accurate correspondence between a passenger ticket and its user by keeping the slit of an automatic ticket examination machine main body open until the user is detected when the ticket is decided available. SOLUTION: When a passenger ticket is put into a slit 1, the data on the ticket are read by a reading head H1 . If the arithmetic result shows a single sheet of ticket with which a single user can pass through a platform wicket, the ticket is examined. When the examined ticket is put into the slit 1, a shutter 1a is closed to prevent the insertion of the ticket of the next passenger. The shutter 1a is also closed when a pair of tickets put into the slit 1 satisfy a single ticket examination condition and a ticket C1 is first inserted. Then the shutter 1a opened for insertion of the second ticket C2 is closed again when the passenger is detected by the human being detectors S1 and S2 placed at the entrance of a ticket examination path (a). When the ticket C2 is put into the slit 1, both tickets Cl and C2 are examined and a door D is opened if the entering/leaving of the passenger is permitted. |
