<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image decoder that makes decoding corresponding to a coding system making motion retrieval from both odd and even number fields of a frame already coded to predict each field. SOLUTION: An image signal already decoded is stored in field memories 8, 9 while being divided into a plurality of fields, prediction signals 104a, 104b are outputted to each field and an interpolation section 10 generates an interpolation prediction signal 104c from the prediction signals 104a, 104b. A selector 11 selects a prediction signal 110 from the prediction signals 104a, 104b and the interpolation prediction signal 104c, and provides an output of the selected signal to an adder 6. The adder 6 adds the selected prediction signal 110 and a decoding prediction error signal decoded by a local decoding section 5 to generate a decoded image signal.</p> |
