PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To exhibit deoxidizing performance without requiring water supply even in low humidity atmosphere and preserve the quality of an article which needs to be preserved in low humidity atmosphere by adding a reductive metal together with at least one of a metal iodide and a metal bromide and keeping the resultant deoxidizer in dried state, preferably having the water content at a specified value or lower. SOLUTION: This deoxidizer composition is a mixture containing a reductive metal in granular metal powder state such as iron powder and copper powder as a main agent and iodides or bromide of alkali metals or alkaline earth metals such as sodium iodide, potassium iodide, sodium bromide, potassium bromide as a reaction promoting agent. The composition is made to be a powder and the content of water in the composition is suppressed to 1 wt.%. The composition is used while being packed and wrapped in a small bag made of ventilative wrapping materials such as unwoven cloth of porous or oxygen permeable polyester, polyamide, paper, films produced by laminating these materials, sheets, etc. Consequently, medical products food in dried state can be preserved in low oxygen environments for a long duration without being dehumidified and causing quality deterioration. |
