PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metallic honeycomb body being the main constitutional element of a metallic carrier for purifying exhaust gas, in which exhaust gas permeability and temperature rise characteristics are excellent. SOLUTION: The metallic honeycomb body H of honeycomb structure consists of both corrugated band material 1 made of a thin-walled metallic plate for carrying a catalyst for purifying exhaust gas and platelike band material 2. In a honeycomb body part Ha of at least one part of the metallic honeycomb body H, the corrugated band material 1 being its constitutional member is constituted of a member having <=35μm absolute value of board thickness and also the platelike band material 2 being its constitutional member is constituted of a member relatively thinner than the corrugated band material 1.
