The dispenser, operated by a control mechanism (650) to dispense a card from a stack and impregnate it with a liquid, e.g. a perfume sample or a cream, has a card loader (800) which is made in one piece and is detachable. The loader is in the form of a box or sleeve with an aperture of greater dimensions than the surface of each card and has inward projections round its edge to retain the cards prior to dispensing. The cards are dispensed one at a time by a rake which grips the edge of the bottom card in a stack and slides it out when operated by a wire (410).
