<p>FIELD: chemical industry. SUBSTANCE: invention discloses method of preparing 1,1,1- trichlorotrifluoroethane which is valuable semiproduct in the manufacture of insecticides. Method comprises chlorinating 1,1-dichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane by containing 1,1-dichloro-2,2,2-trifluoroethane with chlorine in reaction vessel. Method is carried out in liquid phase in the presence of chemical free radical initiator at pressure ranging from 1 to 20 bar and temperature ranging from 50 to 120 C. Product is separated from reaction mixture by fraction distillation. The method has high conversion of reagents, and formation of undesirable by-products is avoided.
