The mechanism involves a gear train which connects a coil spring to hands indicating the time and is connected to a shaft (15) in a speed regulating mechanism. The shaft (15) is supported by bearings (26,27) and carries a rotor (11) which is magnetically permeable. The rotor rotates between two discs (12,13) formed from permanent magnets and any tendency to sped up or slow down is opposed by increases or decreases in the drag due to the disc eddy currents. The air gap may be adjusted by a lever (31,33) and the mechanism is enclosed in an a magnetic case (10). |
