摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To use a new expression in place of an existing polygon expression and to convert the new expression into the more precise shape data by extracting the phase information on an object from the polygon data showing the object shape and then generating a skeleton graph of the object. SOLUTION: An existing polygon data Reeb graph is automatically generated. That is, the phase information on an object is extracted after the polygon data showing the object shape is acquired (S1). The extracted phase data characterize a global structure of the object and is not equal to the local phase information showing merely a specific polygon that is adjacent to a certain polygon. Both global and local phase information are sometimes translated into 'topology', and the former shows a word that is primarily used in mathematics with the latter word used primarily in a CAD (computer aided design) respectively. Then a skeleton graph of the object is generated based on the global phase information (S2).
